Farsley passed the ball around well but found it difficult to break down a well organised Norristhorpe side.

The Vixens opened the scoring after 10 mintues when a Chloe Watson throw-in found Katie. She took the ball round a Bees defender before rifling it past the keeper.

Farsley had the bulk of possession for most of the match but couldn't make the game safe until two minutes from time.

The Norristhorpe keeper kept her side in the match, saving long-range efforts from Bethany Lewis and Katie.

Midfielder Lucy Donnelly helped create several other chances with some determined ball-winning and skillful dribbling and passing while Megi Moo -- playing out after being replaced in goal by Charlotte Green -- Rachel Brown and Megan Flaherty made probing runs into Norristhorpe territory.

The Vixens finally made sure of victory just before the final whistle. Katie took a corner on the left and when the ball was cleared back out to her she fired home from a tight angle to make it 2-0.

The win meant the Vixens briefly reclaimed second place in the league though it left them just a point ahead of Mapplewell who had two games left.

Following the match manager Wayne Mennell said he was very proud of the girls' achievements this season. They have won 11 of their 16 league games and guaranteed a top three finish just a year after finishing third from bottom.

The Vixens round off a their season on Sunday when they take on Wigton Moor in the U-9 Shield Final at Pontefract Sports & Social Club, kick-off 9.30am.

Vixens squad: Megi Moo, Chloe Watson, Bethany Lewis, Lucy Donnelly, Katie Leeming, Dani Horner, Megan Flaherty, Charlotte Green, Rachel Brown, Emily Clarke.
