A Farsley school has won a top prize in Leeds' Community and City Pride Awards.
* Click here for latest Farsley news.Farsley Farfield Primary was the winner of Primary Project of the Year in the scheme which is run by Leeds City Council to recognise public contribution to looking after the environment.
* Click here for more local schools news.The school has established an orchard and polytunnel for growing fruit and vegetables in an under-used area of the school grounds.
Pupils, parents and volunteers from the Halifax all helped with the work and the produce grown was used for school meals or taken home by the pupils.
The activity formed part of a Nature Week which taught pupils about growing plants, environmental awareness and healthy living.
More than 50 entries were received for this year's awards involving almost 5,000 adults and young people.
Councillor Steve Smith, executive board member repsonsible for environmental services, said: "It is fantastic to see so many groups getting together and making a real difference in their communities."
