Zero Waste Leeds collection points where you can get a free warm coat this winter - full list
and live on Freeview channel 276
Winter coats of good quality and warmth are not always affordable, especially in these trying times when people are debating whether to buy anything new at all. With the help of the charity Zero Waste Leeds and Leeds City Council, those from disadvantaged backgrounds can stay warm this winter by reusing coats that the public has donated.
The campaign, which is based on the programme they launched last winter, previously saw 500 good quality second hand coats redistributed to children across Leeds for free. This time, Zero Waste Leeds launched an appeal to gather and give away 2,000 coats so that people could stay warm as well as reduce waste by encouraging people to share their old coats rather than tossing them out.

Hide AdCouncillor Mary Harland, executive member for communities, said: “The coat appeal will help ensure that the most vulnerable people in Leeds will be able to stay warm and I would encourage everyone to check their cupboards and wardrobes for unused coats, scarfs or hats that can be donated.”
Gill Coupland, Co-director of Zero Waste Leeds, said: “It’s very clear that lots of families are struggling financially this year and that the cost of a warm winter coat will be out of reach. At the same time, many of us have the odd coat in the back of the wardrobe that we haven’t worn for a while or ones that our children have grown out of.
“Leeds Winter Coat Appeal aims to unlock all those coats so that they can keep someone else warm this winter and keep much needed money in family budgets for other essentials.” Below is a list of collection points across Leeds where you can get your hands on a free coat this winter.
