A man suffered a badly injured nose after being headbutted during a row over getting served at a bar in Leeds city centre.

The victim suffered an open fracture to his nose after being attacked by Paulo Samado at The Backroom, Call Lane, on July 20, 2019.

Leeds Crown Court heard the incident happened during a dispute between Samado and the victim as they struggled to get served at the bar.

Kristina Goodwin, prosecuting, said Samado approached the victim and his friend at the bar and asked: "Can I get in there?"

Ms Goodwin said: "The complainant replied that they were waiting to get a drink and 'were not standing there for a laugh.'"

A struggle broke out when Samado tried to get in between the two men to get served.

Samado headbutted the victim with such force that it knocked his head backwards.

Security staff restrained Samado and police were called.
