A thug bit his ex partner's face as she was holding their child, started a fire in her garden and took away a climbing frame during a spree of violent offences.

Jack Hill was locked up for 18 months after pleading guilty to arson, criminal damage and violent offences which were all linked to the break-up with the mother of his two children.

Leeds Crown Court heard Hill and the victim split up in December 2019 and have a child together.

In December of that year Hill entered the woman's home in Belle Isle as she was asleep.

He helped himself to her gin, stole some speakers and took £10 from her purse.

The woman got up the next morning to find Hill on the sofa.

The 23-year-old defendant damaged a television when the woman threatened to call police.

He then bit the woman on the face as she was in the kitchen holding one of the children.

He became angry when the mum refused to let him inside the property.

Moments later one of the children said: "Look Mummy, the garden is on fire".

Nicoleta Alistari, prosecuting, said Hill had set fire to a garden table which had the children's toys on it.
