A FARSLEY firefighter has fought his last blaze after serving over 30 years with the fire service.
Dave Smith worked at Leeds, Gipton, Bramley, Stanningley and Moortown before finishing his service at Morley station.

Mr Smith, of Springbank Close, received his long service medal in 1998
and a Chief Fire Officer's Commendation along with his colleagues for their part in a particularly difficult rescue during a house fire in 2005.

He plans to continue enjoying his hobbies of fly-fishing, walking and travelling in his motor home.

His wife Janice said: "I and our two sons, Steve and Ben, are so proud of the things he has done, sometimes diificult, sometimes funny and without any serious injury.

"He leaves with fond memories of the service and wishes all his colleagues that are still serving and those who retired before him all the best for the future."

Mr Smith said: "I think the thing that I will miss most is riding in the engine, going out, taking whatever comes at us and just being able to help people."
