Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival

With over 200 stalls showcasing food, drink, equipment and craft goodies there’s plenty to whet your appetite on July 22-23. The festival’s big top tent offers a great opportunity to pick up some tips from a few of the UK’s best chefs. On Saturday John Torode will be serving up a fantastic recipe of cooking and comedy, while Yorkshire’s own James Martin will take to the stage on Sunday. But it’s not just James Martin representing God’s Own County – as plenty of award-winning local chefs will be stepping out from their Yorkshire kitchens and into in the Local Chef’s Kitchen. Taking to the stage will be Steph Moon, Chef Consultant at Rudding Park, who has also appeared on BBC 2’s ‘Great British Menu’. Fellow foodie Lionel Strub, The Chef at the Clarendon Hotel & Restaurant in Hebden, near Grassington, will also appear. The Clarendon recently won the 2016 Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Food Award for the Best Rural Pub. All the chefs will be showcasing their specialities, talking about their passions – and adding in a generous helping of top tips, ideas and inspiration for visitors. Refresh yourself with one of the festival’s many drinks demos throughout the weekend – with cocktail making, gin and liquors featuring on the lineup. The whole weekend is set against a stunning soundtrack of beautiful performers in the Entertainment Tent – including Ed Sheeran and Adele tribute acts, as well as local performers Steph Baker, Niamh Mirfield and The Keatings. And for little visitors, there are loads of free activities such as sand art in the Kids Tent or Cake Jar and Biscuit Icing workshops. There is something for everyone – and if you can’t bear to leave, you can make a weekend of it and camp next to the festival at Funkirk Farm.
