The highlights included a great win over last year's champions Failsworth School. Farsley played probably fifteen minutes of their best football of the season in this match to destroy the champs.

Meeting Sir Geoff Hurst and being presented their trophies by the World Cup winning legend along with Sue Smith of Leeds Utd and England will rank high on everybody's highlights.

And finally Josh Whiteley's Molten Golden Ball win for the best individual player of the tournament made everybody proud of Weeman and the Club.

His performances were picked out from over 300 players and his acrobatic antics on stage delighted hundreds more!

It was also a pleasure to see the Farsley team leading the chants at the presentation clearly revelling in their Yorkshire origins.

Once again the main highlight was the great spirit and sense of fairness Farsley played every game, enjoying their football almost as much as they enjoyed the nightlife of Butlins!

Farsley Celtic 5 Rossington JFC 0
Farsley proved too strong for their opening opposition, Rossington JFC from Doncaster. A hat-trick from Michael Chapman along with great goals from Jay Silverwood and Weeman proved Farsley's strength in depth as they controlled the game from start to finish. Playing in glorious, warm sunshine it was the perfect opener.

Farsley Celtic 3 Failsworth School 0
Players and coaches knew that the second game on the Saturday was going to be a much tougher affair. Drawn against last year's Champions and a school that attracts footballers from all the main academies of Manchester, Failsworth School were a class team. However, in fifteen minutes of the first half Farsley, playing as if their lives depended on a win, demolished this team. So demoralised were they that they fell out in lumps amongst themselves. The opening goal from Jack Monk was surely the goal of the season, a stunning strike from outside the box that left their keeper stranded. It was inch perfect and any error either side would have seen it hit the crossbar or post. This was followed up by two other contenders for goals of the season as Louis Surtees launched his account with a powerful and looping goal before Chappy made it 3-0 with a fantastic individual goal. In the Second Half Farsley were told to close the opposition down and keep it tight at the back. Everybody did their job to perfection and Failsworth failed to break through to score even a consolation goal.

Farsley Celtic 1 Montagu and North Fenham 0
This was to be the crucial match in the Group on a blustery and colder Sunday morning. The Geordies proved strong opposition and were difficult to break down. Against the wind Farsley defended well to keep it at 0-0. With wind advantage Farsley always looked dangerous and it was Callum Murgatroyd who made the break with an amazing run and well taken goal, his favourite goal of the season. Once again, the defence closed them down and ended the game with three important points.

Farsley Celtic 3 Tyneside Pumas 0
Sunday's second game was against the weakest team in the Group and Farsley knew a win or draw would see them progress to the Semi-Finals. Tyneside Pumas, under no pressure, played much better than on the Saturday and Farsley still had to work hard for the points. Weeman, always threatening on the run, opened the scoring and doubled his tally shortly after. Jay Silverwood made it 3-0 with a fantastic goal down the wing, launching it into the net. Everybody enjoyed the final minutes knowing that a semi-final on the Monday awaited them. Farsley had won the Group without conceding a goal and beating some tough teams on the way.

Farsley Celtic 0 Foxhall 0
(Foxhall won 3-0 on penalties)
Following a late night out after the presentation by World Cup hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, Farsley arrived early at Wainfleet Road Grounds for the Semi-Final against Blackpool's Foxhall Juniors. The day couldn't have been colder or greyer for May but a place in the final awaited the winner of this game. The match was an edgy affair with Farsley having the best of the opening half, two clear chances escaping them early on. Foxhall soon got back into the game and without really threatening the Farsley goal, made life difficult for them. Alan Burton had to make a great diving save to keep Farsley in the match with a minute to go, seconds before it went to the dreaded penalties. Farsley looked exhausted as they stepped up to take their penalties. Sadly it was not to be their day as three misses were matched by three well taken penalties from Foxhall and a disappointed Farsley team went out of the competition without having had a goal scored against them in open play. Some would say that going out in the Semis was a sign that they had had a great weekend at Butlins! Perhaps too good a weekend! Players and parents left Skegness croaky and tired but with many more happy memories to add to a wonderful season. Pity the one that got away!
