A whole year group has been sent home as a precaution following a case of coronavirus at an academy in West Yorkshire.

Woodkirk Academy in Tingley confirmed three cases of coronavirus at the school - a single case in Year 13 and two in Year 11.

Those who have had significant contact with the Year 13 case have been identified and asked to stay at home and self-isolate in line with national guidance, the academy confirmed.

All Year 11 students have been sent home as a precaution whilst the academy identify those who had significant contact with either case.

Joanne Barton, Principal of Woodkirk Academy said: "Today we received confirmation of a single case in Year 13 and two cases affecting Year 11.

"Those who have had significant contact with the Year 13 case have been identified and asked to stay at home and self-isolate in line with national guidance.

"We also sent all our Year 11 students home as a precaution whilst we work to identify anyone who has had significant contact with either case.
