Dave Syers' brilliant hat-trick secured Farsley Celtic's passage into the first round proper of the FA Trophy after a superb 5-2 win over Droylsden.
Gareth Grant scored twice for Farsley while Tony Gray and Neil Prince were on target for the visitors.

Celts boss Neil Parsley was pleased that his game plan was successful against one of the Blue Square North's top sides.

He said: "we knew Droylsden would try and pass the ball, so the physical and long ball side of things went out of the equation.

"I thought for the first 20 minutes, Droylsden came at us and Piotr (Skiba) had to make two or three good saves.

"But after that, we were getting our toes on things and the shape was good.

"I thought our pass retention was better and that enabled Gareth Grant and Lee Ellington to get into positions to hurt them.

"We played poorly last week against Solihull but won, but against Droylsden we played well and thoroughly deserved to win against a very
accomplished side at this level."

Although Droylsden dominated the opening proceedings, it was the Celts who took the lead on 41 minutes.

Roy Stamer's optimistic long- range effort was palmed clear by keeper Paul Phillips, captain Dominic Krief pounced and crossed for Grant to finish the move.

Droylsden's Neil Prince quickly restored parity with a volley to take the teams into the break at 1-1.

The Celts ran riot in the opening five minutes of the second period.
Grant tapped the ball into the net after Liam Shepherd's effort was saved and the former then crossed for Syers to make it 3-1.
Gray reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on 65 to set up a nervy 15 minutes for Farsley.

But as the final 10 minutes approached, Syers latched onto Scott Driscoll's free kick to record his second.

He then completed his first semi-professional treble with five minutes remaining.

The 21-year-old got the better of tired Droylsden centre-half Steve Halford and lashed the ball past Phillips from 12 yards.
