Farsley Celtic 2
Cambridge United 1.
Brave match-winner Dominic Krief played despite a family bereavement as Farsley Celtic stayed on course for Blue Square Premier safety.
Krief's 72nd minute free-kick from the left corner flew straight into the net to send high-flying Cambridge to defeat after the visitors had taken a 51st-minute leadwitha lucky goal by Lee Boylan.

Farsley keeper Curtis Aspden did well to stop Josh Coulson's shot but the ball then rebounded past him off Boylan's shin.

Damien Reeves equalised with a 64th-minute header from Stephen Downes' cross, leaving Krief to grab the glory.

Celts manager John Deacey said: "It was a good performance. We gave away a sloppy goal which left us an uphill task but we came back well.

"The first goal was well worked, something we'd been working on in training, and it's nice when they come off.

"I said at half-time we needed to stay focused and we thoroughly deserved to come back into it and win 2-1.

"We practice set-pieces in training but Dom didn't mean to score from his in-swinging free-kick.

"I'm delighted for him. He had a bereavement in the family and has been brave enough to play. He got his just reward."

With Weymouth and Altrincham also winning, it was vital that Celtic took the points.

Now they go to Weymouth tomorrow night with Deacey saying: "It is a massive game and we need to get something out of it.

"Amjad Iqbal may not be able to travel but we are going to talk about that and try to get round it

"We've been knocking on the door in 2008. Results sometimes haven't been there but we've been very consistent.

"We were the better side against Cambridge and deserved towin.

"The elements don't always work in your favour and they played their part, but we coped with it well, took the game to Cambridge and got the win."

Deacey has set a target of 45 or 46 points to stay up and if Celtic continue to show the character that dug them out of trouble against Cambridge they should survive.

Cambridge manager Jimmy Quinn said: "The conditions were very difficult for both sides but Farsley just seemed to cope better.

"It's not mathematically impossible for us to catch Aldershot – they've got a lot of games and could slip up.

"We didn't get enough quality balls up to the front lads and it was a very scrappy game.

"I thought Farsley did well. You could see they've got the right blend of youth and experience to get them out of the situation they are in."

Quinn admitted: "Farsley deserved the win for their second half performance."
