Farsley Celtic 0
Forest Green Rovers 2.
A goal in each half sent Farsley crashing to a fourth successive defeat and they now have two matches to save themselves from relegation.
Tuesday night's visit to York City and Saturday's home game against Grays Athletic will decide the destiny of John Deacey's men.

The injury-hit Celts were without Mark Jackson, Georges Santos, long-term casualty Ryan Crossley and the suspended James Knowles, while Ryan Serrant, injured at Ebbsfleet in midweek, was on the bench.

On the plus side, captain Amjad Iqbal was fit to return after a three-match absence.

The Celts were fortunate not to concede a goal in the 12th minute, when the league's top scorer Stuart Fleetwood spooned a 10-yard shot over the bar while slightly off balance.

Iqbal wasn't far off the mark with a downward header from Rory Prendergast's corner and when Iqbal again got his head to Prendergast's inswinger, keeper Terry Burton saved low down.

Farsley fell behind in the 23rd minute to a soft goal.

Iqbal made a well-timed tackle to concede a corner and, from Alex Lawless's flag-kick, Mark Preece was in space at the near post, his tame header somehow finding a way through the congested goalmouth into the net.

Farsley almost equalised two minutes later but, from Damien Reeves' pass, David McNiven saw his shot deflected into Burton's hands.

The Celts had ample possession but were frustrated by the solid defending of Preece and skipper Michael Brough.

Then a full-stretch save by Burton kept out Lee Tuck's header for Farsley five minutes after the break and the keeper was equally alert in tipping Rory Prendergast's angled shot over the bar.

Bambrook almost scored with a powerful header from yet another corner by Prendergast as Farsley kept knocking at the door without reward.

When Fleetwood raced through on the counter-attack he was forced out wide and the angle was too acute when he tried to apply the finish.

Prendergast, who had taken a knock, was replaced by Roy Stamer in the 65th minute and four minutes later Forest Green scored again.

Fleetwood drove the ball in to the danger zone where Paul Stonehouse stabbed it over the line. Curtis Aspden made two late saves to prevent a heavier defeat.
