Farsley Celtic 0
Burton Albion 1.
Boss John Deacey issued a defiant "we will survive" message as Farsley Celtic dropped into the bottom four.
With no points from their Easter games against Northwich Victoria and Burton Albion, the Celts are leaving supporters biting their fingers to the bone at the business end of the season.

Amjad Iqbal's mistake let in Matt Williams, Burton's on-loan striker from Tamworth, for the only goal of the match in the 14th minute at Throstle Nest as Nigel Clough's high-flying Albion made it six points out of six from their Easter programme.

Iqbal completely misjudged Burton goalkeeper Saul Deeney's long kick in a gusting wind, leaving debutant Williams to shoot from the left past Curtis Aspden into the far corner of the net.

Two minutes earlier Williams should have punished Iqbal's short back-pass which failed to reach Aspden but this time the striker shot into the side-netting.

Iqbal tried to atone for his mistakes with some stout defensive work, including an excellent block from Williams' 12-yard shot. The Farsley captain also got forward to reach Craig Bentham's free-kick, only to head straight at Deeney.

Deacey tried to console his captain after the game.
"Amjad has been a model of consistency this season and it was a shame that it happened to him," he said.

"I was happy with our performance but we have to be more lethal in the opposition's box. I've said before that I think it will go to the wire and I still believe that. We will survive."

Albion manager Nigel Clough conceded: "I thought Farsley were a bit unlucky in the second half.

"They put us under a lot of pressure and hit a post.
"We had a bit of luck against Crawley Town on Saturday and a bit more luck today."

Farsley played some neat football at times but were too often victims of the offside flag and, as they put Burton's goal under siege late in the game, Simeon Bambrook saw his shot from just outside the box strike the left upright.

The Brewers spent most of the second half frantically defending their lead, though they did occasionally catch Celtic on the break without having the cutting edge to increase their advantage.

Rory Prendergast had a header brilliantly tipped over the bar by Deeney at the start of the second half and, when played through by Craig Bentham, Prendergast wasted the opportunity by shooting high and wide.
Deeney dived bravely at Scott McNiven's feet to deny him in the 55th minute.

And, in chasing an equaliser, Deacey sent on Lee Tuck – on his return from a loan spell at Guiseley – Roy Stamer and David McNiven, but Albion held out.
