Farsley Celtic 1
Aldershot Town 3.
Farsley's visit to fellow strugglers Altrincham tomorrow night assumes huge importance after another defeat for John Deacey's men at Throstle Nest.
Victory would reduce Altrincham's advantage to two points in the scramble to avoid relegation from the Blue Square Premier League, but Celtic will be without the suspended Scott McNiven and James Knowles.

Deacey also has doubts over Mark Jackson and Stephen Downes who both needed treatment for injuries received on Saturday.

Leaders Aldershot created too many chances for the Farsley manager's liking and keeper Curtis Aspden, deputising for the injured Tom Morgan, had to make some exceptional saves to keep the score down.

Deacey was critical of his side's defending but Celtic were unfortunate to only hit the woodwork in the 76th and 82nd minutes, after top scorer Damien Reeves had kept his cool to score his eighth of the season.

Dominic Krief and his Celts team-mates claimed his shot crossed the line after striking the under-side of the bar, but the referee and his assistant disagreed and Farsley were again unfortunate when Stephen Downes' shot struck the bar.

Farsley began with Reeves alone in the attack but were left chasing the game and eventually used three men at the back, five in midfield and two up front.

Deacey said: "We tried to be positive with our substitutions but we made three basic errors at the back.

"The first goal was very slack – giving them a header a yard out – the second resulted from a stupid pass out of defence and for the third we lost the ball cheaply again.

"In between there were some real positives. We took the game to them in the last 30 minutes and were very unlucky not to make the score two-all."

Young striker Danny Hylton headed his first league goal for Aldershot from Ben Harding's 32nd- minute corner.

Hylton's through ball enabled Kirk Hudson to drive home the second just after the hour and Hylton struck again in injury time when fed by substitute Ricky Newman.

Rory Prendergast, impressive against Droylsden in the Setanta Shield, again made a useful contribution on Farsley's left flank in his first home appearance, but Celtic will need to tidy up in defence and show a sharper cutting edge if they are to avoid the drop.

FARSLEY CELTIC: Aspden; McNiven, Jackson, Santos, Stamer (Torpey 61); Downes, Iqbal, Bentham (Knowles 52), Krief (Bambrook 85), Prendergast; Reeves. Subs not used: Gardner, Backhouse.

ALDERSHOT TOWN: Bull; Gier (Day 82), Charles, Winfield, Straker; Hudson, Chalmers, Harding, Joel Grant (Newman 64); John Grant, Hylton (Elvins 90). Subs not used: Jamiez-Ruiz, Donnelly.

REFEREE: R Fletcher.

ATTENDANCE: 622.
