David McNiven will make a timely arrival to the Farsley Celtic squad for one of the "big four" clashes the Blue Square Premier throws up this season.

As far as Conference football goes, trips don't get any more daunting than Celtic's rearranged outing at former Football League outfit Exeter tomorrow and boss John Deacey needs his side firing on all cylinders.

To that end he was delighted to see Steve Torpey and Damien Reeves respond to news McNiven was on the verge of joining the Celts by getting among the goals in last weekend's 3-0 win over Woking which boosted Farsley's survival chances no end.

And Deacey was also delighted to see the loan deal for former York striker McNiven – who is the twin brother of Celtic full-back Scott – finally concluded this week in a move which sees him arrive at Throstle
Nest until the end of the season from relegation rivals Stafford Rangers.

Deacey said: "I pencilled in the four games at the start of the season which I thought would be the hardest. They were Aldershot away, Torquay away, Cambridge away and Exeter away.

"In my opinion this is one of the toughest games of the season but we have got to go down there and try and get a result.

"We have got a decent squad now, there is no doubt about that. We have got competition in all areas and people have got to be on their game. There are no guarantees in the squad and that's howit has got to be.

"The strikers responded last week and they will have to respond every week from nowon because therewill
be strikers on the bench. And we need them to be on their game if we are going to get out of this position.

"I said we needed to tighten up at the back and we have done that, but we have to be more consistent in
front of goal as well.

"That is especially the case when we go to places like Exeter because we are not going to get a hatful of
chances so when we do get them we have to respond."

Torpey and Reeves added to a goal from midfielder Craig Bentham, who has extended his loanstay from Bradford City, as Celtic beat Woking to move within two points of Altrincham and the Conference safety zone and with two games in hand.

Weymouth are also just two points ahead of the Celts and though they have played a game less, they have
Farsley to play twice.

Celtic also visit Stafford, who are nine points behind them in third-bottom spot, next weekend.

But while those games will have a massive bearing onwho stays up and who goes down, Deacey knows his
side will have to be consistent over their remaining 16matches.

He said: "The final relegation place is between three teams in my opinion, I don't think anyone else will get
dragged into it now and we have got to do well when we play the teams around us. But it will come down to
the whole 16 games so we have to get some consistency going.

"We are not going to win them all, or even get points from them all, but we have to be consistent. We have to
take each game as it comes and make sure we are still in there with a fighting
chance with five or six games to go.

"I have said all along 45 points is the target we have to aim for and anything above that is a bonus. We need
15 out of the last 16 games and I am confident we can do it.

"We have got a bit of form behind us now, and the team is buzzing again."

With competition so strong throughout the squad, Deacey wasn't giving anything away as regards to
selection – but he is promising a seat on the coach for the 600-mile round trip for midfielder James Knowles, who returns from suspension.

Deacey said: "I will put James Knowles in the 17 so he's definitely got to go. I read what he said in the
YEP about how getting this game postponed originally was the motivation for beating Alfreton in the FA
Trophy so I know how much he's looking forward to it!"
