Date: Monday, April 21

Competition: West Riding Girls Football League

The sides proved to be well matched and despite a lot of hard work few chances were created in the first half.

Farsley had the first shot after six minutes when Katie Leeming picked up the ball from a throw-in and fired just wide of the far post.
At the other end Megi Moo saved well to deny Leeds City an opener. But in the 13th minute she could do nothing to stop her side going 1-0 down when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball deflected into the net off a Farsley leg.

Farsley almost hit back immediately. Dani Horner flicked the ball on to Katie and when Dani got the ball back her shot was put behind for a corner.

Farsley went further behind five minutes into the second half when a long throw was knocked in at the far post.
A minute later Lucy Donnelly made a good run down the left and found Katie who did well to keep the ball in before crossing from Dani whose shot went just wide.

Then Dani had a shot blocked following a skillful turn and pass by
Megan Flaherty.

Farsley finally managed to claw their way back into the game when
Rachel Brown laid off a neat pass to Katie and this time her cross to Dani was met with a clinical finish.

Leeds City almost restored their two-goal advantage when two players found themselves clean through on the break but the attack was halted by a terrific covering tackle by Bethany Lewis.
Leeds City did go 3-1 up with two minutes to go when they were awarded a penalty for handball.

A fierce spot-kick beat Megi but the referee ordered it to be re-taken after a Leeds City player strayed into the area. Megi saved the re-take but when the ball was kicked out nobody cleared it and it was picked up by the visitors and fired into the net.

With time running out Bethany cleared out of defence to Megan and she played it through to Katie who coolly shot past the Leeds City keeper
to make it 3-2.

Farsley Celtic Vixens stay second in the league but are just one point ahead of Mapplewell having played a game more with the two due to meet this weekend before the girls' final league match of the season at home to Norristhorpe on Monday, April 28.

The girls then travel to Pontefract Sports & Social Club on Sunday, May 11, for the U-9 Shield Final against Wigton Moor with a 9.30am kick-off.
