Ambitious Rob Womersley, manager of the newly-formed Farsley Celtic Ladies team, is targeting a rapid rise up the football pyramid.
The Celts start life in the West Riding Women's League second division, but Womersley has a strategy in place which he hopes will enable them to compete with the heavy-weights of the women's game in years to come.

He told Farsley Today: "We've started a ladies team and are going to go into the West Riding Women's League and hopefully can progress in five to 10 years into the national pyramid.

"The first big target in a few years is the Northern Counties because if we can get there, we can enter the Women's FA Cup. If you're going to do something, you have to challenge yourself and ours is to see how far we can go up the pyramid."

Trials for the team take place on the 13th, 20th and 27th of July, starting at 6.30pm and ending at 8pm and Womersley is hoping to see some
accomplished female footballers at Throstle Nest on the listed nights.

The ladies side is being built on the foundations of last season's under-17 team which won the West Riding Girls League Shield in May.
Womersley added: "We just need new and older players because at the moment, we've got a very young squad.

"The facilities at Throstle Nest for training are fantastic and everyone you need is here."
