Farsley Celtic Colts U-11s complete fundraising bike ride challenge

A team of parents and friends of Farsley Celtic Colts U-11s have raised thousands after a cycle canal ride from Liverpool to Leeds.
Thirteen parents and friends completed the 127 miles challenge in around 17 hours.

Around £3,000 is expected to be raised from the fundraiser which will be used towards funding a trip to Holland for the team to compete in the Amsterdam Cup in 2010.

Wendy Benn of Farsley Celtic Colts U-11s said it was the second time the parents and friends had undertaken the challenege.

"The weather was very kind compared to last year, we had sunshine and a little rain and it was a bit too windy at times but luckily nobody actually ended up in the canal.

"The savage swans at Riddlesden were kinder this year also so we managed without any real injuries and everybody made it home safe and sound including cycles although there were a few repairs to be done along the way."
