Farsley Cricket Club will need no reminding of the importance of 'backing up' with victory in the Division One home encounter with rock-bottom Hanging Heaton.
The Red Lane outfit produced the Bradford League's shock result of the day last Saturday by sending Woodlands spinning to another defeat, having the temerity to claim victory in the champions' own back yard.

The win has immeasurably raised spirits among Dave Syers' troops, who have endured a sticky start to the season, largely due to batting toils and player unavailability.

But with close to a full team to chose from, third-from-bottom Farsley are hoping the wind is back in their sails, and are eyeing back-to-back victories for the first time this season tomorrow at the expense of Heaton, who have lost all eight matches in a horror start to the campaign.

And with a trip to high-fliers East Bierley to come on Sunday, not to mention a league and Priestley Cup double-header with Pudsey Congs next weekend, Farsley don't need telling twice the pivotal importance of victory against Alan Mynett's strugglers.

Farsley skipper Syers said: "There's no point beating Woodlands away and then losing to Hanging Heaton the week after, who are bottom of the table.

"It would be a case of one step forwards, two steps back.

"But if we get a good result, it could give us a bit more freedom for our games with East Bierley and Pudsey Congs – who are two of the powerhouse sides."
